The European Commission has announced new measures to protect workers in the European Union from workplace-related cancer as well as other health problems. 

A recent report published by the Department for Transport has concluded that there is a strong case for changing the law to tackle the issue of dangerous and careless cycling that causes injury or death. If the recommendation is accepted by Government it would bring cycling in line with driving offences.

Many people who drive as part of their job are being pressured into answering calls while on the road, but employers are failing to provide them with legally compliant hands-free kits. 

Road safety organisations have reacted with concern to the news that there has been an increase in the number of people killed and injured in road traffic accidents involving drink-driving. 

The risks associated with allowing employees to freely walk on foot through areas used by work vehicles are readily apparent, and there is a large amount of guidance available for employers on how these risks can be effectively managed.
